Tanzania Olympic Committee on 28th March 2024 held a press conference at the TOC offices to provide information about the Legacy program named “Twende Olimpiki” aimed at creating awareness for the coming Paris 2024 Olympic Games which will take place from 26th July to 11th August 2024.
The program has two phases. Phase one started with a two-day Directive Seminar in Kibaha, Pwani from 13th to 15th December 2023 and continued in Mbeya with a two-day workshop on strategic planning for Sports Officers from Mbeya, Singida, and Pwani. To conclude phase one, the Tanzania Olympic Committee will organize an event that will take place in Singida from 4th to 5th April 2024, expected to attract 300 youths competing in Football, Volleyball, and Athletics from Mbeya and Singida.
Speaking at the briefing, TOC Vice President stated that the Pwani region would not participate in the event due to their failure to send participant information by the specified deadline.
However, TOC Secretary General announced that Halima Dendego (Singida Regional Commissioner) will be the Guest of Honor and will open the event in Singida.
Additionally, Tanzania Olympic Committee spoke about the upcoming voluntary race (Fun Run) scheduled on 20th April 2024 in collaboration with the French Embassy in Tanzania, French Cultural Centre (Alliance Française), and French School in Tanzania (Arthur Rimbaud)to promote the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
