Tanzania Olympic Committee celebrated National Olympic Day today, 23rd June 2024, at the Jamuhuri Stadium in Morogoro, attended by Morogoro Regional Commissioner, Hon. Adam Kighoma Malima, where he delivered Olympic Day message from the IOC’s President Thomas Bach, the message emphasized as the world gears up for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, this year’s Olympic Day marks a significant milestone, heralding a new era for the Olympic Games set to be the first Games with full gender parity and fully aligned with the Olympic agenda having a theme “Let’s move and celebrate. “ The Olympic Day Celebration had 500 sports enthusiasts of all ages.

The celebration included a warm-up
session, 2.5-kilometer run for children under 15 and 46 years and above, 5.0-kilometer run for those aged 15 to 45 years old. Prizes were given to the youngest children and the eldest to both genders. The youngest girl Daliso Mwakalinga (3) years old and the youngest boy Brilliance Kaema (6) years old were the youngest participants in the 2.5 km run and the eldest male Suleiman Nyambui (72) years old and the eldest female Dorothy Francis (59) years old were the elder participants in a 5.0 km run.
